Lynnfred Smith

Lynn Fred aka Lynnfred Smith was born and raised in Flint, Michigan on Oct. 22 1959. He is one of 6 children of Johnnie and Erma Jean Smith. Lynn Fred grew up listening, with his father, to progressive jazz, classical and gospel music. He loved Jimmy Smith, Cannonball Adderly and Duke Ellington to name a few. He began learning about music at the age of 8 when he discovered the clarinet and the snare drum. As he grew up, he learned to play various percussion instruments. In 1976 Lynn Fred was told by his band director that he would never amount to anything in the world of music. Boy....was he wrong!!! He graduated from Flint Northern High in 1978 and joined the US Navy. While in the Navy, Lynn Fred expanded his art and seamlessly incorporated the piano into his music artistry.

To Lynn Fred, music is his mantra! His appreciation for music is broad reaching and is not fenced by any genre. Lynn Fred was continually inspired to achieve greatness and erase that negative criticism of his band director. Lynn Fred breathes music and that music is woven into his DNA. Day and night he is always creating!

While attending Kingdom of Heaven Ministries, Lynn Fred's music came to the attention of Pastor Lonnie Brown. It was by the inspiration of his pastor that Lynn Fred unveiled his music to the world. Lynn Fred began composing music for a gospel group known as (In His Presence). He also composed the opening and closing theme song "Transformation" for Kingdom of Heaven Ministries television. Lynnfred continued to compose music for various weddings and stage plays while living in Flint. He played for the church's praise and worship team and performed behind praise and worship artist Helen Baylor, Ron Kenoly, and Keith Staton of 'Commissioned'. In 1997, Lynn Fred's music would appear on a CD called "Love Letters" by the Covenant Brothers featuring Ben Tankard which had national distribution.

Moving into the 21 century, Lynn Fred found himself as a single parent and was crushed by the lost of his father, Johnnie. These changes strengthened Lynn Fred and his walk with God and empowered him to create and record his music for the world to hear. In 2006, Lynn Fred moved to Glendale, Arizona. where he married his wife Stephanie.

Lynn Fred has been recently tapped to present soundtracks for movies and commercials. With the many songs in Lynn Fred's music catalog, he is more than ready with soundtracks for all forms of entertainment.

With input from Lynn Fred's inner circle, Lynn Fred decided to follow his dream and put his gift to work. He produced his debut easy listening, new age CD "Seven" and released it in June 2013. Lynn Fred continues to follow his chosen path with his next CD "Millennium" due for release in early 2015. "Millennium" consists of fantastic and powerfully composed soundtracks made for movies, television, sporting and gaming venues. The title track "Millennium (Suite)", is his masterpiece, which took over 20 years in the making. Join Lynn Fred and his many fans from around the world and discover more of his original creations in music.
